My name is Leanna "Lee" Grenier. I am a NASM certified personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist, and certified nutrition coach/nutritionist.
I'm a wife and a mom of two boys, living in a town called Arlington in the beautiful and rainy Pacific Northwest. I also do Brazilian jiujitsu and kickboxing at an MMA gym. I'm basically obsessed with those. I'm a bit of a nerd. I enjoy reading, either books about things I want to learn more about, or fiction, usually sci-fi or fantasy. I love shows in that genre too; everything from Stargate to Buffy to Star Trek, but also everything from Bones to 9-1-1. I have a vegetable garden, lots of flowers, and some fruit trees; I enjoy learning constantly; and I can bake the best damn cheesecake you've ever had thanks to a family friend's secret recipe.
I was into fitness on and off through my early twenties, ever since a basic program online taught me how to lift weights in the gym. I thought about becoming a trainer then, but didn't follow through for various reasons. I started having kids in my mid-twenties, and life was centered around that until my youngest was about a year and a half. I was slightly overweight, very deconditioned, and I had completely lost my previously perky and curvy butt. Seriously, I cared about the butt loss. I knew I needed to do something about my fitness, and I knew that something was get some muscle back. So I found that same online program I'd used years before, and signed up at a local gym that offered childcare. I got my booty back, plus dropped some fat and gained some muscle. Eventually I signed up for kickboxing and BJJ. I gained a lot of confidence and became even more fit, and my thoughts of becoming a personal trainer resurfaced. I finally pulled the trigger during the pandemic, got my certifications, and created L.G. Fitness.
As a coach, my goal is to help you achieve a level of health and fitness that enables you to live your life how you want to live it and reach your goals. Whether you want to gain muscle, improve body composition, improve your overall health, increase strength, improve athletic performance, improve movement patterns, get back in shape after an injury, eat better, or something else entirely, I will do my best to help you work within your real life to achieve real results. My goal for you is that your results will be sustainable for years to come, and that we get there with evidence-based methods that really work. I don't want to offer a quick fix that doesn't actually help you a year or five years from now. I want to help you genuinely improve your life and lifestyle, in a way that is attainable and sustainable. You deserve to be the best you possible.
You deserve to live empowered.
Q: Do you offer in person sessions?
A: Yes! I have a private garage gym. I am a mom, so most of my availability is during school hours. If you're local to Arlington or Snohomish County and those hours work for you, I'd love to work with you in person! My dog Peanut would love to meet you too.
Q: Do I have to live near you?
A: No! If you're a good candidate for online coaching, you don't need any in person sessions. You can live anywhere in the world.
Q: Do you offer online or virtual coaching?
A: Yes! I offer online personal training and virtual nutrition coaching for good candidates. I offer consultations with 4, 8, or 12 week plans, or more involved coaching. Online training isn't right for everyone, but you can always book a free consultation with me first to see if it would work well for you, or if you have any concerns/questions!
Q: Do you make meal plans to nutrition clients?
A: No, although I can help you make your own. Prescribing a meal plan is out of my scope of practice; only registered dieticians should do that. Many meal plans fail to help clients in the long-term. I prefer to teach you principles of healthy eating and help you set goals you can realistically meet, while still eating foods you choose to include. I feel this is especially important for people whose ethnic foods don't fit into traditional meal plans.
Q: How do I know whether to see a doctor before working with you?
A: If you haven't seen your doctor for an annual checkup in more than a year, that's always a good idea. If you are recently postpartum I strongly recommend that you get a referral to a pelvic floor physical therapist before returning to exercise. If you've been injured or had surgery in the last year, or have any major health conditions, you'll likely need clearance to exercise. There will be health screening questions on the PAR-Q when you sign up. If any red flags come up, see your doctor before beginning or resuming coaching. If you are working with other health professionals for something specific, I still might be able to work with you.
Q: Are you inclusive?
A: Yes, everyone deserves to receive accurate information about health, and to become healthier and stronger and feel safe while doing so. The only requirement is professional, courteous behavior that meets behavior policies.
Q: Do you coach pregnant and postpartum women?
A: Yes. I do not currently have a certification specific to pre-and post-natal coaching (I hope to change that within the next few years), but I can still help with your health and fitness. I find it especially important to intelligently ease back into exercise post-partum, and strongly recommend visiting a pelvic floor physical therapist at least once after giving birth. Please book a free consult if you have any questions or concerns.
Q: Can you help me lose weight?
A: Yes, if appropriate. I will help you achieve weight loss through education and healthy habits, not through crash diets, prescribed meal plans, or unsustainable restrictions. No matter what, I hope to help you improve your overall wellness. I do reserve the right to decide if a client is NOT a good candidate for weight loss.
Q: Can you help me gain weight?
A: Yes, especially if you're seeking to add weight through muscle.
Q: Can I just tone?
A: Yes, but also no. When most people say they want to "tone," it usually means they want long, lean muscles with some visible definition. That is done by building muscle while maintaining or achieving a certain level of leanness so that the muscle is visible.
Q: I'm a woman; should I lift?
A: Absolutely. It will probably get you to your goals far better than aerobics or cardio. Especially if you're looking to get that "toned" look I addressed above.
Q: You do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing at an MMA gym; do you teach those?
A: I do not teach BJJ at this time. I can include some kickboxing in-person, or if you are an online client and already do it independently we can work it into your programming. I can also include programming and drills that can help you perform better in these sports, or that just make you feel like a badass even if you don't do combat sports.
Q: Are you on social media?
A: Yes! You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter. @LeeGFitness or @lee_grenier_cpt are my handles.
